Spanish for
Conservation Professionals
STATE PARKS EDITION
This 8-week / 12-hour interactive online course (via Zoom) is designed for English-speaking state park rangers, staff, and volunteers who want to better welcome, inform, guide, and interact with their Spanish-speaking visitors.
A good foundation in (and memory of) basic Spanish required.
This course can be tailored to accommodate staff at any type of federal, state, or local conservation area (i.e., National Wildlife Refuges, State Forests, Land Trust preserves).
What you get:
An overview and review of general Spanish language rules (particularly compared to English), pronunciation, everyday vocabulary / phrases, time, sentence structure, and conjugation patterns of essential verbs.
Introduction of vocabulary, verbs, phrases, scenarios relevant to state parks including: welcoming visitors; natural and man-made park structures or features; visitor-related services and FAQs; animals, plants, and habitats; popular recreational activities; park rules; emergency situations.
A relaxed but lively and positive learning environment with instructors in real time (via Zoom).
Course Length & Schedule:
Eight 1.5-hour classes available weekly between 9am and 2pm ET, Monday - Friday.
Other combinations of course- and class-length can be arranged.
Next course: January 2024, and upon request.
Course Price (per student):
$240. Minimum group size: 10.
If more than 20 students, class will be split into two identical sessions in order to maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio during small-group practice time.
