LLaves:
Keys to Bilingual Conservation
Teaching Spanish for conservationists by conservationists
Enseñando inglés para conservacionistas por conservacionistas
Why Bilingual Conservation?
Foreign languages can be a barrier for conservation professionals in different countries who collaborate on studying and conserving the migratory wildlife they share.
In the United States, staff at important conservation areas who welcome, help, and convey rules to visitors feel this barrier when unable to use the foreign language of local residents and/or tourists.
"I need to learn [Spanish / English], but don't have time..."
Sound familiar?
Finding the time - and energy - to take language classes at night, weekends, or lunchtime is tough!
Even if you can, the general material being taught isn't very relevant for your job! To date, specialized language programs exist for medical and law enforcement professionals, but not for environmental professionals.
Until now.
We founded LLAVES: KEYS TO BILINGUAL CONSERVATION to put our combined scientific, linguistic, and teaching skills to use to fill this need. Our live, interactive, workday classes are designed to teach you the language in a way that's relevant to your role in environmental conservation.
